About these terms

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of Mechanic Frank, operated by HeyJoe. By purchasing a report or using this service, you agree to these terms.

What Mechanic Frank is — and isn't

Frank is an AI-powered tool that analyses used car listings based on photos and/or text you provide. Frank uses publicly available knowledge about vehicle models, common faults, recall histories, and Australian market data to produce a buyer's intelligence report.

Frank works from a listing only. Frank has not physically inspected any vehicle. Frank cannot:

• Confirm the actual mechanical condition of a specific vehicle
• Detect faults that are not visible from listing photos
• Verify claims made by a seller
• Provide a roadworthy assessment or certificate
• Replace the judgement of a qualified mechanic who has physically inspected the car

Frank's reports are intended to help you ask better questions, know what to look for, and walk into a purchase better prepared. They are not a professional mechanical opinion.

No guarantees about vehicle condition

HeyJoe makes no representation or warranty, express or implied, about the condition of any vehicle analysed by Frank. Information about known model issues, recalls, and common faults relates to vehicle makes, models, and year ranges generally — not to any specific vehicle you are considering purchasing.

A recall being open for a model year does not mean the specific vehicle you are looking at has an unresolved recall. A known fault for a model does not mean the vehicle you are looking at has that fault. Frank will tell you what to check — not what is definitely wrong.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for any purchasing decisions you make. Before buying a used vehicle, we strongly recommend:

• Arranging an independent pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic
• Obtaining a PPSR (Personal Property Securities Register) check
• Checking for any outstanding recalls with the manufacturer or ACCC
• Verifying the vehicle's service history and ownership records

Frank's report is one input in your research process. It is not the whole picture.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian consumer law, HeyJoe's total liability for any claim arising from your use of Mechanic Frank is limited to the amount you paid for the report in question.

HeyJoe is not liable for:

• Any loss or damage arising from a vehicle purchase you made after receiving a Frank report
• Inaccuracies in AI-generated content arising from limitations of the AI model or from unclear/incomplete listing data you provided
• Any consequential, indirect, incidental, or special loss or damage

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded by contract.

Payment

Reports are priced at A$4.75 per report (AUD, inclusive of GST where applicable). Payment is processed securely by Stripe. You will be redirected to Stripe's checkout to complete your payment.

Your report will be generated after payment is confirmed. Report generation typically takes a few minutes.

Refunds

If Frank was unable to generate a report due to a technical fault on our end, you are entitled to a full refund. Contact us at heyjoe@polsia.app with your report ID and we will make it right.

For other refund requests, please contact us. We assess requests on a case-by-case basis and will do our best to be fair. We're a small team and we'd rather you be happy than argue over a few dollars.

Intellectual property

The Mechanic Frank brand, website, and report format are owned by HeyJoe. Reports generated by Frank are for your personal use only. You may share your report with others for the purpose of getting a second opinion on a car purchase. You may not resell, reproduce, or commercially exploit Frank reports.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of Mechanic Frank after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
